For the past 30 years, the ALS Memorial Open Golf Tournament has been our “labor of love” in which we pay tribute to our fathers and grandfathers, John C. Daly and James W. Michaels, as well as the many others who have been stricken with ALS – a degenerative neuromuscular disease more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Typically, this tournament is held in June, the month that marks Father’s Day. Although we would truly enjoy keeping our event in June, we have decided for this year, and this year only, we feel it is best to schedule in September with the hopes of providing the safest environment for our participants, with less restrictions.
Funds raised from this tournament continue to play a critical role in caring for the many individuals and families in the battle against this devastating disease. You may be assured that your generous commitment will help St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center and the staff as they continue to touch the lives of those living with Lou Gehrig’s disease.
The St. Peter’s ALS Regional Center is the only center within 150 miles of the Capital District that provides a comprehensive blend of educational, medical and emotional support services to persons diagnosed with ALS.
The Center provides help to hundreds of families throughout a 20-county area. Support of the Center is provided by funding through individual, corporate and memorial donations, as well as fundraisers like the ALS Memorial Open.
A special thanks to our 2019 ALS Open committee: Genevieve Brock, Pat Daly, Scott Daly, Shannon Galuski, Julie Michaels Keegan, Betsy Matthews, Luke Michaels, Paul Michaels, Matt Moore, Scott Moore, Melissa Morrison, Mary Ann Penney, Erin Prendergast, Kelly Ragan, Karen Spinelli, Sarah Spinelli, Zach Tonkin, Martin Wylde, and Sally Wylde.
